An alternative to the gas heating systems in multi-apartment buildings
In the face of unfavorable gas prospects in future heating seasons, , developers, more than ever, should think about using modern alternative solutions to familiar gas boilers that are both more efficient and functional
Heat pumps:
Option 1. Modular chillers.
The use of chillers is the easiest option for replacing a rooftop gas boiler, as it requires minimal changes to an existing building heat supply project, namely, changes in the design capacity of radiators, taking into account using a coolant with a lower maximum temperature. The rest of the project remains unchanged.
Advantages:
- an inexpensive solution;
- ease of installation;
- no need for boiler house operators. (the system works in automatic or semi-automatic mode);
- lower heating cost.
Disadvantages:
- the impossibility of using the system for air conditioning without making significant changes to the existing heat carrier distribution system.

Option 2. Individual heat pumps.
The use of individual heat pumps is the best option, as it provides end-users (residents of apartments or owners of commercial premises) with complete autonomy in using the system.
Advantages:
- full autonomy in use;
- lower heating cost;
- the possibility of using both for heating, hot water preparation, and for air conditioning;
- payment only for consumed electricity according to the readings of your electricity meter.
Disadvantages:
- the need to allocate a special room (loggia) open from the facade for the installation of outdoor units of heat pumps;
- a larger amount of capital investments in comparison with Option 1 .

Option 3. VRF/VRV systems with individual hydronic modules.
The use of this option is most effective for commercial facilities such as hotels, business centers, commercial shopping centers.
Advantages:
- autonomy in use;
- lower heating cost;
- the possibility of using both for heating, hot water preparation, and for air conditioning;
Flaws:
- a larger amount of capital investments compared to Option 1;
- large length of freon lines;
- high profitability when using the system by at least 30%
